When you start, your scorecard will allow you to enter seven key statistics, including the number of strokes, putts, fairways hit, greens in regulation, sand traps, penalty strokes, and drive distance. The scorecard will show a check mark next to the last six of these lines, indicating that you can enter information for these lines. If you did not record any information for one of these statistics and do not intend to enter information, you may undo the check mark next to these statistics.

For your convenience, we have included an option to set your putts for each hole equal to 2. You can then change your putts for those holes where your putts are not equal to two.

Perhaps you never record one of the last six statistics on the scorecard, or perhaps you want to track more information. In order to reduce or increase statistics on your scorecard, you may go to preferences/options and make your selections.

  • Graph options include a bar chart and a line chart.

Drive, Sand Saves, Sand Traps %, Penalty Strokes, % Birdies or better, % Pars, % Bogies, % Double Bogies and more. You can also define these:

  • Time frame allows you to monitor information over either a preset interval or a custom defined time frame. If you choose a preset interval, you may choose the preceding 3, 6, or 12 months from the drop-down menu. If you choose to monitor information over a custom defined time frame, you must enter the starting date and ending date.

  • Interval enables you to monitor information for each round, by monthly average, or by quarterly average. For example, if you select monthly average, we will display information for each month during which you entered at least one round. • Courses allows you to select which courses you would like to include in your analysis. You may choose to include All courses, your home course, or any course you have previously played. In order to include a previously played course, simply select the course from the dropdown menu.

  • Graph options include a bar chart and a line chart.

Course. If you play one course many times, you may be interested in how you play each hole on the course. Course analysis allows you to display your best score and your average strokes for each hole.

You need to select the course from a pull down menu of your favorite courses, and you may define the time frame of rounds included in the course analysis. If you choose not to select the time frame, all your rounds at the course will be included.

Correlation. Understanding the relationships between different aspects of your game will enable you focus on major improvement areas. NetHandicap's correlation analysis helps you identify how one part of your game affects another part of your game. For example, you can analyze how your fairways hit percent per round affects your total score per round.

Correct correlation analysis requires you to select one independent variable and one dependent variable. If the correlation analysis shows a strong relationship, the independent variable affects the dependent variable. For example, your fairways hit represents an independent variable that may affect your total score, which represents the dependent variable.

In addition to selecting the variables, you can also define these:

  • Time frame allows you to monitor information over either a preset interval or a custom defined time frame. If you choose a preset interval, you may choose the preceding 3, 6, or 12 months from the dropdown menu. If you choose to monitor information over a custom defined time frame, you must enter the starting date and ending date.

  • Courses allows you to select which courses you would like to include in your analysis. You may choose to include All courses, your home course, or any course you have previously played. In order to include a previously played course, simply select the course from the dropdown menu.

The output of your correlation analysis includes an r-squared number, representing the strength of the relationship between the two parts of your game. If the r-squared is less than 1.0, the relationship between the two parts of your game is not very strong. An r-squared between 1.0 and 2.0 suggests a moderately strong relationship, while and r-squared of more than 2.0 indicates that one part of your game strongly affects another part of your game.
