USGA Compliance is Easy
On January 1, 2006, the United States Golf Association commenced a new policy allowing golfers to post 100% of their rounds over the Internet. Further, NetHandicap.com provides the tools for online golf clubs to become established and operational. Any golfer can join an online golf club (type 3 as defined by the USGA) in their local community and obtain a USGA handicap index.
According to the USGA Handicap System, a member of an online golf club must live within a 50 mile radius of the club's address. NetHandicap uses a member's zip code (home or office) in order to calculate this distance automatically when the member joins our service. As well, compliance requires that a golfer play with another member of the golf club at least 3 times in a year and also participate in a golf tournament or event at least one time in a year.
